17. Importance of Establishment of Hypertension Center:
Hypertension is a significant, modifiable risk factor for diabetes's macrovascular and microvascular complications. The prevalence of both hypertension and diabetes mellitus is increasingglobally, and in Bangladesh, both of these fatal diseases are on the rise. The diseases causesevere complications such as cardiovascular and chronic kidney diseases, which increase the risk of death over time. As a result, preventing and aggravating hypertension and diabetes are major challenges.
Diabetes damages the kidneys by scaring them, which causes salt and water retention, which raises blood pressure.  Diabetes damages the small blood vessels over time, causing the bloodvessel walls to stiffen and function improperly, which contributes to high blood pressure. . In the Rangpur district prevalence of both Hypertension and diabetes is higher than in other districts as revealed by our HTN&RCR research study conducted in 2013.
